FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions about the Forum 

 

1) What is the Water Supply Forum?
The Forum is a cooperative effort of representative of water utilities and local govenments to:

  • Address regional water supply planning issues;
  • Help coordinate regulatory matters regarding water supply;
  • Respond to the Endangered Species Act (ESA) requirements and concerns;
  • Respond to Growth Management Act (GMA) requirements and concerns; and
  • Provide regional water supply information to the public and stakeholders.

 

2) What is the Purpose of the Forum?
The Forum is designed to facilitate and coordinate communications and information on regional water supply planning issues in King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties. It is guided by the following objectives:

  • To coordinate public water supply planning between water supply agencies;
  • To identify water supply needs defined by locally- and state-mandated Growth Management Plans;
  • To use water efficiently and seek new and better ways to conserve water;
  • To work collaboratively with local, state and tribal governments and other stakeholders to help ensure that water-based recovery portions of Endangered Species Act responses can be met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • To aggressively pursue environmental and other public benefits when developing public water supplies;
  • To actively pursue opportunities to implement these objectives on a regional basis; andTo communicate with all groups that have an interest in water supply issues.

 

3) What is the Outlook?
The 2009 and 2001 Central Puget Sound Regional Water Supply Outlooks are comprehensive assessments of municipal water demand and supply in the Forum planning area  of King, Pierce and Snohomish Counties.

 

4) What Does the Outlook Contain?
It contains current and projected regional water demands for the three-county area.  It includes an analysis of regional water supplies, and identifies potential future water supply options (e.g., enhanced conservation, and reuse  and other more conventional solutions).  It was created to form a foundation for regional water resource planning and coordination. Read more about the Outlook »

 

5) Why was the Forum created?
The Forum was created to serve as a forum to discuss and represent a shared input into the state and regional water supply strategies and programs.

 

6) When was the Forum created?
The Forum was formed in July of 1998.

 

7) Does the Forum have a newsletter? How can I get on the mailing list?
