Information on the region's water resources is available from federal, state and local governments. Follow the links below for information on water resources within the region. The largest municipal water supplies within the region are surface water supplies from the regions major rivers. However, about a third of the regions municipal water supply is from wells (groundwater).
The USGS provides real time data on flows on the regions major rivers, including the Green River, the Cedar River, and the Snohomish River. Additional data on current conditions on Washington Rivers is also available.
The USGS also provides additional information on water resources in Washington state and nationally.
The Washington Department of Ecology provides data on wells through out the state. Data includes well locations and well logs. Additional information on groundwater rules and regulations, water quality and other relation information and links on groundwater is available on the Ecology groundwater site. The United State Geological Survey (USGS) also maintains a website with Washington groundwater information, USGS groundwater.
Planning has been done to prepare plans to protect groundwater quality within the region. The approved groundwater management plans within King County can be found on the King County groundwater website.
In addition to the groundwater used to provide public water supply, many households with in the region are served by private well. The EPA has created a website focused on private wells.
